Chiara Capobianco was born in Rome in 1992. Her passion for drawing emerged early, but as a child she devoted herself primarily to ballet, training as a dancer at the Rome Ballet Academy.
She later studied at the Caravillani Art School, where she graduated with a focus on Architecture, and began exploring graphic design — quickly revealing a strong talent for editorial and packaging design.
Capobianco continued her studies at the European Institute of Design (IED), specializing in Graphic and Motion Design. She then moved to London, where she worked in fashion editorials and began developing a personal series of abstract geometric illustrations inspired by the human form.
After founding her own graphic design studio, she relocated to Berlin to focus exclusively on illustration, taking part in the BAI artist residency. There, she began producing large-scale drawings that merged urban architecture and human presence in intricate, black-and-white compositions.
Her work soon attracted the attention of art director and international DJ Giancarlino, who invited her to design and paint the interiors of Goa Club — one of Rome’s most iconic techno venues. Over 700 square meters of space were hand-painted using only markers and acrylics, and Capobianco also created five zones for video mapping with her own animations, taking charge of the club’s editorial and web graphic direction throughout 2018–2019.
Following a year and a half of exclusive collaboration with Goa Club, the Covid-19 pandemic abruptly interrupted her work. In 2021, she gained recognition once again by winning the emerging artist award at Super Walls, Italy’s leading street art biennial. This marked the beginning of a flourishing phase in her career, as she went on to win several public and private art competitions, creating large-scale works across Italy, Spain, Poland, and Switzerland.
In 2022, she won first prize in the City Wall competition organized by the MART Museum and the City of Rovereto, producing a public artwork dedicated to Fortunato Depero.
Her definitive breakthrough came in 2023, when she was commissioned by the Bank of Italy to create Bank of Life — a monumental 35-meter mural covering two façades of the bank’s main office in Catania. The work, made with sustainable and smog-eating paints, is the largest of its kind in Sicily and among the biggest in Italy.
In 2024, Chiara Capobianco was awarded the title of Knight of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic by President Sergio Mattarella, in recognition of her social contributions through art.
Today, Capo.Bianco continues to focus on public and participatory art projects. She is currently developing a monumental installation in Bari for the Italian State Property Agency (Agenzia del Demanio), created in collaboration with local citizens for the new Parco della Giustizia. Her work has been exhibited across Italy — including at the MUDEC Museum of Cultures in Milan — and internationally at World Art Dubai.
Most recently, she has won two additional public art competitions: one for a large-scale sculpture commissioned by EAV (Ente Autonomo Volturno) for a new metro station in Naples, and another for two permanent installations at ENAC’s headquarters in Rome.
